Presenting the NTTF scorecard in the last one year, Oshodi said the year 2016 has been a memorable one, particularly the exploits of the nation’s table tennis team at the Rio Olympic Games in Brazil.
According to him, more grassroots competitions, workshops and coaching clinics would be organised next year to enable the federation discover more players around the country.

…Iheanacho – He Rarely Plays, He Often Scores Guardiola Tips Iheanacho to Replace Aguero With Ease…

Nigerian striker KelechiIheanacho is now officially the striker with the best minutes per goal ratio in the history of the Premier League.
According to Opta, the 20 year old Nigerian who scored Manchester City’s second goal in their 3-0 thrashing of Hull City is has a goal ratio of one goal every 96 minutes.
So far he has scored 12 Premier League goals from just 19 shots on target, and this season alone he has been directly involved in seven goals this season.
His performances this season played a big part in winning him this latest honour as he has been directly involved in 7 goals from just 401 minutes of Premier League action this season.
He has found the back of the net four times, while on four other occasions he has assisted teammates to score.
Fans of Manchester City have formed a new song for their Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho after he came off the bench, and scored in their 3-0 win over Hull City.
The away fans were giving a huge relief when the Nigerian scored City’s second goal to put them two goals ahead, before a Curtis Davies own goal wrapped up a comprehensive win for the former Premier League kings.
Manager Pep Guardiola has so far not given the Nigerian playing time as expected by many, even when top striker Sergio Kun Aguero was suspended for five games.
Iheanacho’s goal which has made him the striker with the best minute to goal ratio in the history of the Premier lead to the fans singing out his name, while questioning his lack of playing time.
” He rarely Plays, He often Scores, He Is Iheanacho, He Just Scored Again”, they sang at the KCOM Stadium.
Coach of Manchester City Pep Guardiola has praised the impact of Nigerian forward KelechiIheanacho in his team 1-1 draw with Celtic in the UEFA Champions League.
The Nigerian forward drew City level with a well hit strike four minutes after Patrick Roberts has given Celtic the lead at the Etihad, and in Sergio Aguero’s absence he is expected to lead the line for City.
However Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola insists KelechiIheanacho is under no pressure to up his game during Sergio Aguero’s four-match suspension.
Aguero was sent off for a high and late challenge on Chelsea defender David Luiz during Saturday’s 3-1 Premier League defeat to leaders Chelsea.
Having already served a three-match ban earlier in the season, the Argentina international was dealt a more severe punishment this time around.
Aguero’s absence could see Iheanacho asked to lead the line in matches against Leicester City, Watford, Arsenal and Hull City.
But Guardiola has moved to deflect any pressure from the 20-year-old, who has scored 13 goals in 18 starts for City.
“There is no pressure on KelechiIheanacho, he just has to do his job,” Guardiola is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

  • FG must stop funding NFF –Ezeugo

FG must stop funding NFF –Ezeugo

Former international, EmekaEzeugo, has urged the Federal Government to  allow the Nigeria Football Federation run as an independent body sourcing its own funds for its programmes.
The NFF relies on allocation from the Federal Government to take care of the national teams.
Ezeugo also said a  lack of legislation is killing football in the country.
“The NFF will continue to fail in its duty of paying national team players  until the right things are done. The Federal Government should take its hands off the funding of football in Nigeria,” he said.
“When government funds sports, accountability becomes a difficult thing. It will take a lot of probing to expose how the government funds are spent.
“If the NFF is independent and sponsored by the private sector, owing players will be a thing of the past. Players, who are the main actors in the sport, will not be owed their rightful allowances.”
He added, “The private sector wants to know how their money is spent before investing. When they give out money and are not convinced about how it is spent, they withdraw and the result is what we are currently seeing.
“Nigeria needs a legislation that will make the NFF independent, and also make state governments stay away from the running of football clubs. With the Exception of F.C IfeanyiUbah and a few other privately run clubs, the teams in the Premier League are guilty of owing players because they rely on government subventions, which come late. Sometimes the money  is shared before it gets to the players.”
The well-travelled former Eagles defender said the country should encourage private ownership of football clubs as it would encourage accountability.
He said, “The bedrock of football administration in the country are the clubs. The representatives of these clubs go into the state football associations and then into the NFF. When state governments own football clubs, the money allocated to them are not properly accounted for.
“These actions continue to the FAs and then the federation. But when we more private ownership of clubs, the players will be paid and the necessary legislation needed for the growth of the game would be pushed for. Accountability will also
