Juventus compelled official says Spurs manager Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino said Friday that senior Juventus authorities put weight on the arbitrator amid their Champions League triumph against Tottenham, portraying the Italian champions as pros in progress.

Goads’ 2-1 vanquish at Wembley on Wednesday implied they left the competition 4-3 on total notwithstanding overwhelming the tie general.

Tottenham supervisor Pochettino said Juventus president Andrea Agnelli and general chief Giuseppe Marotta invested energy in the passage previously, amid and after the diversion

Furthermore, he felt the Italian club did everything possible to guarantee they would advance to the quarter-finals, including endeavoring to put weight on Polish authority Szymon Marciniak.

The Argentine chief trusts the Premier League group can gain from that culture.

“I believe it’s a gigantic circumstance that you should learn (from),” he said. “On the off chance that we just observe the details from the two diversions, I think Tottenham was the vastly improved group.

“It’s in the little subtle elements that the rivalries now and again request distinctive things. What’s more, I think Juventus are authorities since they have the propensity to win, the propensity to put weight on the ref.

“The proprietor remained in the passage in the passage previously or amid the diversion. It’s a club with a culture to do everything to endeavor to help the group.

“Prior to the diversion it was Agnelli, after the amusement it was Agnelli, Marotta. I saw at half-time how they put weight on the official. I trust those points of interest can help the club.”

In the wake of securing a 2-2 attract Turin, Tottenham showed up on course to advance subsequent to proceeding in the second leg through Son Heung-Min.

Be that as it may, snappy fire second-half objectives from Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala handed the tie over the guests’ support to leave Spurs to center around the FA Cup and securing a main four Premier League wrap up.

Pochettino declined to accuse his side’s European exit for the conduct of the restriction.

“It’s not a direct result of that that we lost,” he said. “The odds that we had, we weren’t proficient to score in excess of one objective.

“It’s an enormous lesson to mind on the pitch, as well as off the pitch. When you will win, you require assistance from everybody.”

Goads come back to activity at Bournemouth on Sunday. Midfielder Eric Dier maintained elbow damage against Juventus and is an uncertainty for the diversion.

  • Revealed! Ifeanyi Ubah’s Account On NPLF Opening Day Disgrace

Revealed! Ifeanyi Ubah’s Account On NPLF Opening Day Disgrace

Owner of NPFL club FC IfeanyiUbah, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, has opened up on the disgraceful events that marred the opening day of the new Nigeria league season, saying he never ordered his team to abandon the game against Kano Pillars.
He said the walkout by his team was most regrettable and has taken the sanctions imposed on ‘The Anambra Warriors’ in good faith.

    The full interview:

QUESTION: Good morning sir, it’s a brand new Nigeria Professional Football League season. Many waited for the opening day with excitement and great expectations, but your darling team FC Ifeanyi Ubah seem to have spoilt the fun by staging a walkout in the second half of an exciting game at Kano Pillars.
IFEANYI UBAH: Let me start by saying I feel more pained and ridiculed by the event of Saturday. I want to use this medium to first of all put to rest the allegations making the rounds that I called my team manager Jonathan Igwe to instruct him on what to do when in actual fact, I only called when I heard from the venue that the game was abandoned.
When I employ people, I always give them a free hand to take decisions because I have entrusted them with responsibilities and where they fail to perform, I wield the big stick.
I have not for once interfered during the course of a game. I only chip in advice at half time or before kick-off and leave the coaches and team managers to do their work.
What happened on Saturday was very unfortunate and highly regrettable but the deed has been done, we can only see how to come out of it and move on.
QUESTION: Have you had a chance to watch the video tape of the match? What was your impression of the officiating?
IFEANYI UBAH: The referee, Folusho Ajayi from Oyo State, did her best. As you know, we are human and are liable to mistakes. However, these decisions do not warrant us walking out of the pitch.
If it were an international match, are you saying we will abandon the match because things are not going our way?
All I ask is that referees should allow the game flow. There were too many wrong calls and I am sure that was what infuriated the team manager, but he had no right to take the laws into his hands.
The team we assembled this season has the capability and capacity to win the league. We have consciously and carefully done our scouting, we have recruited some of the best players in Nigeria and on the continent and we are ready to take on any team in the league.
I wish they will allow all teams a level playing ground to show their stuff, then Nigerians will see the very best of FC Ifeanyi Ubah.
We have gone beyond just a Nigerian clubside, we are an international brand and the best team in Nigeria today.
QUESTION: Did you just say you have the best club? I thought Rangers won the league and should be considered the best?
IFEANYI UBAH: No, they are not. We won the Federation Cup. Many people wrote us off, they said we paid our way to the final but on that day, God in heaven vindicated us.
The Lagos fans came out to support good football and we gave them lots to savour with our performance. At the end we were crowned champions. The FA Cup is the oldest and biggest club competition. To win it, you must defeat champions and we did it in style against Nasarawa United who had the backing and presence of the first and second citizens of the state.
Just last week again, beyond all expectations and with 10 men, we defeated Rangers to win the Charity Cup which is the official curtain raiser to the new season.
We lost a player in the first half but with ten men we taught them some good lessons in the second half that got the crowd salivating and we went ahead to win on penalties.
How else do you decide the best, Wale? We have defeated all comers and we are dreaming continental now.
QUESTION: Let’s return to the abandoned game in Kano at the weekend. As an international brand, don’t you think that the decision to abandon that match on Saturday has damaged FC Ifeanyi Ubah brand?
IFEANYI UBAH: That is my major worry. In fact that is why I called for this interview because I needed to quickly douse the tension after all the stories flying on the social media.
We must try as much as we can to promote and protect the brand called FC Ifeanyi Ubah. Not only our reputation, my name is also at stake.  If you tune your radio on now, all you hear is Ifeanyi Ubah.
They don’t even add the ‘FC’ any longer but that is the price I have to pay for investing my money on my passion. The love I have for this game beats the imagination of anyone. I know where it pinches, because I invest my hard earned money in the game.
Today, I am the only individual in the premier league investing my money on a club.
Remember we travel to Egypt soon for a CAF Confederation Cup match with Al Masry and that demands a lot of money, but we will continue to do our utmost in putting smiles on the faces of the youths.
That is my calling and no amount of intimidation can deter me from doing so. I will remain focused because the vision I have for FC Ifeanyi Ubah is massive.
QUESTION: So, will the management of FC Ifeanyi Ubah tender an unreserved apology to the football fraternity especially the Governor and people of Kano State, the NFF and LMC over the decision to abandon that match on Saturday?
IFEANYI UBAH: We have done just that. Before you came in, I had instructed Chukwuma Ubah, my chairman, to put out a press release that will appeal to all these people you just mentioned.
My biggest apology goes the Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, players and officials of Kano Pillars and the fans who paid to see the match.
I must also apologise to the League Management Company under the able and vibrant leadership of Mallam Shehu Dikko. I can’t imagine what that man is going through now after the event of yesterday. He toils day and night to make the league better, he is always moving around, looking for sponsors to better the league and such incidents on the very first day of the season is bad for brand promotion and publicity.
I am also appealing to the Nigeria Football Federation, the over 20 FA chairmen at the stadium, club owners and the media for that shameful show put up by my team.
We will only get better with time and such will never happen again.
We want to be an example of good conduct on and off the field of play. We are a super brand and the only NPFL side to sign a multi-million pounds partnership deal with a top European club (West Ham United) This is what we intend to flaunt as credentials, not to be seen as a team that abandons league games or make headlines for the wrong reasons.
QUESTION: Thank you for your time sir.
IFEANYI UBAH: Thanks for honouring me too.

  • Interview; Rangers Can Rule African Clubs- Chukwu

Interview; Rangers Can Rule African Clubs- Chukwu

Chairman Christian Chukwu  is a household name that needs no introduction to followers of Nigeria football. Chukwu, a former captain and coach of Rangers international Football Club of Enugu and the national team is currently the Technical Director of the reigning Nigeria League champions, Rangers. In the wake of the draw of the 2017 CAF Champions League last week, Chukwu spokeon Rangers chances in the Champions League and on the Super Eagles.
    Q.    The draw for the 2017 CAF Champions League pitches Rangers against Algerian team, JS Saoura. Tongues have been wagging since the draw, with most Nigerians expressing fears over Rangers chances.
If you want to be a champion, you must not fear anybody. We (Rangers) are not afraid of the Algerians but will respect them. Just as some Nigerians are panicking, so are the Algerians. They too don’t feel comfortable because they have been paired with Rangers. Every team that have qualified for a championship is a potential champion. That is why no team should be underrated, not the least Rangers. I am not among those saying any particular team is tough or easy.
    Q.    The fear over Rangers chances is based on the fact that some of their best legs are leaving. As we speak, the team’s top scorer and brightest prospect,
Chisom Egbuchulam is in Tunisia as we heard he has successfully undergone his medical with Etoil du Sahel of Tunisia. How do you intend to cope without keeping your best legs?
I don’t think the player in question has gone to Tunisia yet. Negotiations are still ongoing. But mark it Rangers will not stand in the way of any young player who wants to go out in search of the Golden Fleece. We are happy for him. Once the club in question is able to meet Rangers terms and conditions, Chisom will be free to go. Who knew Chisom two years ago?
Football is about team work and the club has the capacity to bring up more Chisoms. Apart from him, however, majority of the players who won the league are still in the team
    Q.    What is the morale in camp as there were reports that the players were not happy with the sharing formula adopted for the monetary reward by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
That is not true because the boys are in high spirit. The Governor has motivated them to the highest level. Even those who were thinking of leaving are beginning to backtrack. The spirit is high and they have promised the governor the Champions League trophy. How can the national team coach, Gernot Rohr consolidate his early achievements with the team as the next 2018 FIFA World Cup fixture is against Cameroon?
My happiness is that the manager is doing exactly what we, the NFF Technical Committee want. We have discussed with and told him what we want and we are happy he has been following our discussions and posting good results. All we need do now is to beat Cameroon here, go to Yaounde get a draw and we are in Russia. In the next one year, we will have a formidable squad that can stand against the best in the world.
    Q.    What do you think has been going for Rohr with the national team?

The team’s morale is high at the moment. When he calls players to camp you notice the response is 100%. No late comers, no big man in camp any more, because every player want to win his place in the team. With this spirit in camp, Rohr is beginning to mould them into a team that is full of promise. We are appealing to the Federal Government to ensure his programme is executed to the letter and let there be no disruptions in our march to Russia.
    Q.    You were a renowned defender and the Eagles defence has been a source of worry to many fans. Does it not worry you?
The coach is looking at every department of the team. In modern football no department of a team is static. The first line of defence is attack. Where the attackers are not doing well, the midfielders suffer and eventually the defense crumbles. In modern football, defenders, midfielders help shore up the attack. The entire team is mobile so the blame cannot be on one department. All that is being looked into by the manager.
    Q.    Rohr’s recruitment process came under scrutiny recently when it was said the manager has sworn never to invite clubless players to camp, no matter how good such players may be. How do you view this?
I support Rohr. He is absolutely correct. If you think you are good you must play for a club. You can’t be good and you won’t have a club. A player without a club cannot claim to be good. You must be marketable if you are good. By the way, how does one evaluate your worth if you don’t have a club? The national team is not a rehabilitation centre. Rohr is absolutely right about that.
    Q.    Mikel Obi has been in the news of late, particularly, as it affects his fate at Chelsea. He is yet to play a league game under coach Conte. What is your advice for him?
Mikel Obi is no more a young player. He has come of age to know whether he wants to play for money or just play for fun. He still has a few years left to play competitive football. I will support if he goes where he can have regular playing time. If he wants to play for big money he should know what he wants.

He told them that there was an initial arrangement to provide buses that would have conveyed them to Out Reach Centres during the week programme but after a cursory look at their predicament occasioned by bad load network, their case became so pathetic that made him plead with the  Medical team to design a Special Outreach Programme to assist one of their colleagues, Chikwendu whose people could not i feature in the initial programme because of the poor topography of the Area.

TRANSPORTATION IS THE LARGEST EMPLOYER OF LABOR If…—-Chijioke Ukadike

    by Geoffrey Kingsley
Head public affairs, Nigerian Port Authority and founder/project co-ordinator Goshen Gate Foundation Port-Harcourt, Dr. Chijioke Ukadike has stated that the transportation sector remained the largest employer of labour if governments at all levels take more holistic view of the sector using professionals in the system.
Dr Ukadike disclosed this to journalist during the 29th convocation ceremony recently held at the University Of Technology Owerri Where he acquired a Doctorate Degree Of Philosophy (Ph.D), Degree In Transport Management Technology, pointing-out that the quest for knowledge is insatiable as the problem of the industry remained the lack of trained professionals to drive the industry to a greater height, which prompt him to update his knowledge with more intellectual balance to make more positive impact in the Nigerian transport sector.
Dr. Ukadike appreciated Federal Government’s effort towards reviving rail transport, noting that with the rail system if fully functional, it will ensure movement of agricultural produce from rejoins of comparative advantage to markets where they are mostly needed which will boost trade in the country and ease pressure on Nigerian roads.
He gave instances of countries with efficient and effective rail system stressing that Nigerian stands to gain an enormously in areas of employment opportunities and revenue if critical measures are put in place. He pointed out lapses in the system and posited that government need to accept that there are problems in the sector and tackle them head-on with deliberate plans that will bridge the gaps in the industry through professional and workable policies.

  • THE SECRETS OKEY EZEH REVEALED TO IMO PEOPLE

THE SECRETS OKEY EZEH REVEALED TO IMO PEOPLE

    By: Ifeanyi Onyekachi
    08034453068

There is a general consensus in Imo State that Dr. Sam Onunaka Mbakwe (De Sam) who governed the State between 1979 and 1982 is the only governor that has realistically tried to place the State in the pedestal of Industrialization and economic development. This issue, through comparative analysis has become unequivocal.
Among the strides that enshrined the name of De Sam in the annals of Imo history is the massive industrialization of the State by sitting cottage Industries across the State, including Ada-Palm, in Ohaji Egbema. Today De Sam is gone and we are back to the beginning. We have grown without development. As a state, we are deep sunk into the abyss of misery and have moved faster to the back.
Though we have seen successive governments since the departure of De-Sam, yet it looks as if we never had any. Unemployment, joblessness, under employment and outright poverty stare everyone in the face. How long shall we continue to languish in this gory tale? How come we cannot get it right? More importantly, how do we get out of this quagmire?
In the very recent time, people have argued that the hardship that ravished the State is not peculiar to Imo but caused by general down-turn in the Country’s earnings. Recession. But State like Anambra still increases salaries, reduces tax and produces rice for export. They are not oil producing State. What did they do differently?
Also, Lagos just launched its own rice. Lagos has exhibited quality leadership right from the days of Lateef Jakande and is better for it. Senator Ahmed Tinubu, while the governor of the State proved that Lagos is resilient at the face of hardship. The test case was when the federal government led by President Olusegun Obasanjo withheld their State allocation from the Federation account.
During that period, which could be termed recession for the State, Tinubu employed tact, ingenuity and prudential management to ensure that the effect of the withheld fund was cushioned and the economy boisterous.
The ordinary man did not understand when you said Lagos allocation was withheld. I lived in Lagos at that time. Tinubu and his team managed the economy with superlative dexterity.
Although many argued that Lagos is the country’s commercial nerves centre and is therefore insulated from financial down-turn, the truth is that a government manages the State to sustain its economic tempo. The managers certainly did not descend from the moon.
Just like Lagos, Imo is also strategically located to ensure maximum harnessing of her resources for economic sustainability. But our story is different. This has bugged the minds of many genuine Imo Stakeholders including myself.
However, one open secret that was revealed by Mr. Okey Ezeh, a renowned technocrat, reputed for starting business and run it to multinational, is that Imo State is sitting on a goldmine. He said that except for poor economic management by successive government, the State is rich with abundant resources which if fully tapped, federal allocation would not be required for survival.
Mr. Okey Ezeh who did not want to play the ostrich as many politicians do, elucidated his explanation with focal point on Palm oil production. Imo journalists were held spell bound as they listened to him reeled out his facts and figures on how palm oil alone can place Imo among the richest States in the world. Okey Ezeh, who has shown personal commitment to revitalizing the State economy stated this at the 2016, Imo NUJ press week titled: The Press and Economic Recession, Nigeria’s Case.
The financial consultant opened the eyes of his audience to see the inherent opportunities that abound in palm oil production where Imo has comparative advantage than other States. Sharing his thought with the journalists and indigene of Imo in general, he said palm oil product cost higher than crude oil in the International market. He made us to know that the cost of crude oil per barrel is put at $56 while the cost of deep water extraction of crude is $32 per barrel. If you minus the cost of deep water extraction from the bench mark of Nigeria’s crude oil sale in the international market, the difference is $24. This difference in terms of profit is what the government at every level scrambles for in Nigeria.
Compare the above prices with palm oil. One metric ton of palm oil in the International market is put at $650. While the local purchase price of one metric ton of Nigeria palm oil by industrial consumer is N650.oo. Each ton of palm oil has about seven barrels. Suffice to say that one barrel of palm oil is about $395 as against the $56 per barrel of crude oil. If for instance, Imo State decides to genuinely concentrate and consolidate on palm oil production and chooses not to export, she will earn N650,000 per ton for selling to manufacturing industries in Nigeria which are in dire need of the product.
Having listened to Mr. Okey Ezeh, I believed him. Not because he said it, but because I have privy to a research he paid heavily to conduct in Imo State regarding opportunities that exist in the 27 Local Government of the State in case of industry sitting with special regard to their comparative advantages.
He commissioned the research prior to his political interest in salvaging Imo from economic squalor in 2015 before he was edged out by political hawks desperate for power for the sake of its paraphernalia and acquisition of wealth.
The point here is that Imo could become a haven, money spinning factory and a State of financial independent if the leadership has adopted the vision of De Sam and expanded the frontiers of palm oil production.
Malaysia, a country whose population is barely the population of Lagos and Kano, has impressively harnessed their palm biomass, today they are the 2nd largest producer of sustainable oil (I was told they took their palm seedling from Imo State)
According to Robin Miller, a renowned analyst, Malaysia generates 39% of world palm oil; accounting for more than 5% of its export with approximate value of over $20billion. The country has about a million people working within the value chain of its palm oil industry.
Since Imo has comparative advantage on palm oil production, if the industry is fully utilized the available potentials and market requirement are so expansive to take full attention of the State without recourse to any other source of revenue generation. Every part of the Palm fruit is essentially useful and revenue generating. Nothing is a waste.
Beyond the common knowledge of being used as frying oil, crude palm oil and palm kernel oil are among world versatile raw materials. They are based ingredients found in approximately 50% of products in supermarket shelves. They are used in making consumer food and snacks, personal care cosmetic, bio-fuel energy animal feeds, pharmaceuticals among others.
This means that even manufacturing companies in Nigeria such as Unilever are in dire need of the oil. That is why Mr. Okey Ezeh said the States can make billions of naira from palm oil if she chooses to supply to local manufacturers only.
Apart from crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel oil (PKO) which are of high industrial use, the palm kernel expeller (PKE) is used in animal feed industry. The product is high in energy and fiber and retains good level of residual oil.
It is interesting to note that experts have shown that it is comparatively cost effective to start palm oil production in reasonable commercial quantity. The question that begs for answer is why has successive governments not mustered enough courage to venture realistically in palm oil production.
For the purpose of emphasis, the type of agricultural industrial commercialization that is proposed cannot be actualized in the “Ikuola nkwu” fashion, where N2 million was shared to each community for palm plantation. Such money is obviously for “Chopulate” because the process lacks intrinsic and extrinsic design for sustainability and growth. It lacks the industrialization methodology with clear evaluation strategic plan. It can never work! No wonder the State government is going after those who “Chopulate”, the money, this is according to newspaper report.
Also, the “back to land” model of the state government, which mandates every civil servants to go back to agriculture will only recycle subsistency. I have written on this severally. I will however refer you to Simeon Kolawole’s article titled: Agriculture is Not a Magic Wand”. He dwelled extensively on that.
From the afore-going, if the running of Ada palm is devoid of political intrigues, visionless and directionless leadership but with right political will on the part of government, many more Ada Palms would have been born in at least all the geo-political zones of the State.
It is only the right leadership that can cause industrial revolution and economic sustainability. But the challenge remains, how do we enthrone this elusive right leadership? This rhetorical question does not in any way deride the competence of the incumbent, because this administration has done its best.
However, indigene of Imo must shun grand styling and window dressing politicians who speak so eloquently, organizes “mega constituency briefing” whatever that means, lacks every iota of fear of God, mesmerizes unsuspecting and gullible Imolites only to win election. They spend money that is not commensurate with their earnings. Good leadership does not just happen, there must be evidence of high level of managerial ability with sound sense of judgment and educational backup.
I mentioned Anambra and Lagos earlier in this piece as States that are succeeding. I would like you to read the background of former governor Peter Obi who handed over to Governor Obiano. Also, read the background of Obiano himself.
Please do same to former governor Ahmed Tinubu and his successor Raji Fashola not leaving out the incumbent governor of the State. This will help you to know that good leadership is beyond being a money bag, dolling out some cash or doing patches at empowerment with motorcycle (Okada), sewing machines, Hair driers etc.
Mr. Okey Ezeh at that event also told Imo Journalists some bitter truth. That is a story for another day!
