So far he has scored 12 Premier League goals from just 19 shots on target, and this season alone he has been directly involved in seven goals this season.
His performances this season played a big part in winning him this latest honour as he has been directly involved in 7 goals from just 401 minutes of Premier League action this season.
He has found the back of the net four times, while on four other occasions he has assisted teammates to score.
Fans of Manchester City have formed a new song for their Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho after he came off the bench, and scored in their 3-0 win over Hull City.
The away fans were giving a huge relief when the Nigerian scored City’s second goal to put them two goals ahead, before a Curtis Davies own goal wrapped up a comprehensive win for the former Premier League kings.
Manager Pep Guardiola has so far not given the Nigerian playing time as expected by many, even when top striker Sergio Kun Aguero was suspended for five games.
Iheanacho’s goal which has made him the striker with the best minute to goal ratio in the history of the Premier lead to the fans singing out his name, while questioning his lack of playing time.
” He rarely Plays, He often Scores, He Is Iheanacho, He Just Scored Again”, they sang at the KCOM Stadium.
Coach of Manchester City Pep Guardiola has praised the impact of Nigerian forward KelechiIheanacho in his team 1-1 draw with Celtic in the UEFA Champions League.
The Nigerian forward drew City level with a well hit strike four minutes after Patrick Roberts has given Celtic the lead at the Etihad, and in Sergio Aguero’s absence he is expected to lead the line for City.
However Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola insists KelechiIheanacho is under no pressure to up his game during Sergio Aguero’s four-match suspension.
Aguero was sent off for a high and late challenge on Chelsea defender David Luiz during Saturday’s 3-1 Premier League defeat to leaders Chelsea.
Having already served a three-match ban earlier in the season, the Argentina international was dealt a more severe punishment this time around.
Aguero’s absence could see Iheanacho asked to lead the line in matches against Leicester City, Watford, Arsenal and Hull City.
But Guardiola has moved to deflect any pressure from the 20-year-old, who has scored 13 goals in 18 starts for City.
“There is no pressure on KelechiIheanacho, he just has to do his job,” Guardiola is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
